Wonderful 1950s Ball Gown created from the most sumptuous Rainbow Spangled Black silk Georgette, which is gossamer fine.
It was hand made in approx 1951 and placed into a designers Private Collection. Its exquisitely designed, with the utmost style to compliment the wearer.
The bodice has double material, with the skirt of the dress being unlined, which wasn’t unheard of as the wearer would probably wear evening slacks underneath to give a ‘Hostess’ look
The dress closes down the left side with hook and eyes which appear to have been obtained from a corset!
The body of the dress is very very stylish, with ruffles and a broad cummerbund, with a sash leading from each shoulder down to the waist. This is semi loose.
The skirt is quite gathered and full being cut to form over a circle, with 8 panels.
The measurements given were taken when the garment was laid flat and relaxed.
