Victorian 1900s mourning coat. Dark Green with Dark grey velvet collar.
Beautifully hand tailored from English pure new wool and cashmere, with traditional collar, which is velvet.
There is a letter included dated 1855 as to provenance of the coat.
The buttons are original and there are some missing. These are made from woven silk over brass.
There are four inner pockets, and one of these is very well used and is damaged.
There are 2 buttons atop a double back slit, which is in very good condition.
There are no areas of rubbing or sheen to the fabric. I believe that the coat originates from the legal quarter of Edinburgh in Scotland
