Unworn Vintage Art Deco Sheath Dress 1920s Robe Nightdress Nightgown French Lace Blue Silk Lingerie
Vintage 1920s Blue Silk Hand Made Gown, Nightgown, Robe or Day Dress. Made as part of a brides trousseau, but it has remained for over 100 years unworn.
The gown has hand made French lace at the neckline and on the edges of the angle sleeves and panels of the same at the shoulders. The front and back of the dress is panelled
The bottom hem has been hand rolled and stitched in silk thread, as are all the seams
The lace was made by my 2 x Great Grandmother’s in the Caen region of France, and there are also Italian influences running throughout.
Around the neckline the lace is free stitched onto the gown, elsewhere the lace is appliqué.
The garment is free styled, and is without a defining waistline
These garments look absolutely beautiful when worn as sheath dresses, its original, unique and very avant-Garde
The gown has been very generously cut to allow it to drape. The fabric is free of thinning, shattering and rot, but does have some storage marks.
The following measurements have been taken when the garment was laid flat, relaxed and unstretched - from seam to seam, and is being given for comparison against a similar item of ones own.
