Vintage Bellville Sassoon Psychedelic Cocktail Dress created from the most sumptuous medium weight raw silk and lined in a gossamer fine contrasting silk
The front buttons to the waist, at the back there is an ultra long zip. The shoulders have slight padding and at the waist there is a very broad cummerbund at the waist, with an elaborate bow.
The sleeves are extremely full, bishop styled with a deep buttoned cuff of 4”
The gown oozes understated chic sensuality, and is a sure show stopper.
It was purchased in approximately 1968 the following season it was placed into a Private Collection. Its exquisitely designed, with the utmost style to compliment the wearer and has been completely all hand sewn.
It’s a fabulous gown, unfortunately it’s distressed at the underarms and there are a number of age marks, and also thinning.
On the whole, it’s very wearable but it should be noted that it requires attention. It can be repaired as there is enough spare material at the seams and hems to patch. Please see the last two photos of the underarms.
