Stunning 1940s WWII Fit & Flare Housecoat. Created from the most luxurious silk mix Burgundy Liberty fabric and lined in a pale blue parachute silk. It is truly a rare and stunning item of vintage fashion.
The material is quilted and all the seams have been hand finished, the remaining seams has been done with a treadle machine.
The coat is drawn together with a pure silk rope tasseled belt.
The fabric was purchased with the aid of clothing coupons and the book is included in this sale. The creation is one of two known and documented robes. These measurements have been taken seam to seam when the garment was laid flat and relaxed and have been provided for guidance as the garment is unsized.
