Vintage Art Deco Black Velvet Belt embellished with Glass Gold Beads and Stunning Tiger Cowries Shells ( Cowry)- Hand Made in Paris in June 1925.
The belt fastens with a large Sacred Chank shell (Turbinella pyrum)
This is a simply beautiful belt, and would have been worn resting on the hips over a long silk gown or perhaps slipped over a loose edge to edge coat.
It’s simply divine and has been constructed to a very high specification. I’m told it was purchased in Paris, but it’s clear that the shells and glass beads came from elsewhere.
The measurements given have been taken end to end when the belt was laid flat and relaxed.
