Victorian 1800s Silver Silk Wrap or Stole woven with fine Gold thread and black detailing. Beautifully hand woven, striking and vivid Paisley banding and a hand knotted gold metal edging.
Adapted and used by ladies as evening shawls or stoles, they were widely worn by both sexes around the shoulders within private rooms.
The sides have a 0.5'' plainly woven border.

The fabric is in excellent condition, I purchased this in the late 1970s from the custodian of an heirloom collection, it originates from India and was brought over from Kashmir when the family relocated in the early 1920s. I had the intention of using it, but never quite got around to wearing it. It's lain in my linen store since that day and as I'm thinning my collection, it just has to go.
This is a stunning fabric, the ultimate vintage wrap or stole, and would suit any themed wedding or cocktail event. The design is stylised and very distinctive, no one would ever have another like it. The fabric has been professionally dry cleaned and is ready to wear.
