Absolutely stunning 1950s Gown.
Made by Polly Peck which retailed under the name of Miss Polly and carries a label size of 14.
Purchased 1959 - December
It’s a heavy weight silk satin fabric.
The Gown is quite fitted to the bodice with panels to the underarm to allow the sleeve to fit closely to the arm without hindering the wearer.
The neck is boat shaped to the front and at the back a low scoop, with fabulous styling along the hem with little cotton spheres that dance and sway as the wearer moves.
(There are some missing-I will provide replacement)
As this is a vintage creation. I am giving the measurements taken when the garment was laid flat and relaxed please compare against a garment of your own which fits comfortably.
Label size 14 guide size 10 small 12.
Shoulder to the waist 16 inches

Sleeve length 22 inches
Sleeve width; 16 inches to the top of the arm graduating to 10 inches at just above wrist level.
The dress has been fully dry cleaned and is ready to wear. Please note that there are a few pom-poms missing.
The dress has added shape, as the skirt has a fitted netted petticoat which is sewn in to the garment.
The waist is reinforced with padding and over stitching.
In all, it is in fabulous condition and I’m told it was worn just once by my aunty. It comes from my own collection which I’m clearing as I’m downsizing.
