This is a beautiful little compact. It’s part of my own compact collection, which I’m breaking up.
The Powder compact is a gold tone and has been engine, Guilloché, turned, with a true mirror and with original powder
It was given to me in the late 1970s and I as already well used. I haven’t used it at all as it’s been stored in my collection
Engine turning, (Guilloché)
also known as jewelling, is a fine geometric pattern turned onto metal as a finish. Aluminium is often the metal chosen to inscribe, but any appropriate surface can be finely machined to produce intricate repetitive patterns that offer reflective interest and fine detail.
