Stunning Antique 1770s Bonnet hand made from gossamer fine net and edged in silk Bobbin Lace and inset with ornate panels of Flemish needle lace, it’s so extreamly rare and exquisitely made, truly beautiful.
Originating from Austria and made by Flemish settlers.
Size:
Approx 8" from forehead to tip of lappet.
5.5” wide from rear neck cord to chin. Kindly note that there are four pin holes to the net Lace-please see photos.
Please remember that ladies on the whole were much smaller during this period, this cap does not quite sit perfectly on our modern display head.
The item is part of a Private heirloom collection, it’s been very well stored throughout and has received a professional clean to brighten and freshen.
The fabric has been shown in natural light for clarity and is completely untouched digitally. The date is appropriate as I was informed at the time I obtained the item.
