This is a very fine and really gorgeous tablecloth or topper featuring Maltese champagne silk lace with a silk centre. It’s the perfect addition to a vintage high tea, unused and stored since 1930
Maltese lace was developed during the mid-19th century when Lady Hamilton Chichester invited Genoese lacemakers to come to Malta and use traditional Maltese needlelace patterns to produce bobbin lace.
It measures 32”
The condition is exceptional and the lace is intact with no breaks. The silk centre is free of shattering
This is an exceptional fabric made for a wedding gift but it’s remained unused
It features a densely made silk yarn bobbin lace. There are two small age marks, please see photos
