Vintage 1900s Linen (heavy) Throw, with floral silk embroidery
It’s been stored for many years and is a mid oatmeal colour it will eventually lighten. There are the launderers tags still present along with a 5” repair to one corner, otherwise it’s in gorgeous condition
This is one stunningly beautiful bedspread Originally they would have been used as both a bed sheet or a bathing sheet. These were placed into the copper bath tub to protect the bather from the heat of the fires underneath.
It measures;
Width; 76 inches
Length; 80 inches
The embroidery is 6” deep
The outer edges are loom finished. The top and bottom hems are hand stitched
It would make an excellent bed sheet, sham, coverlet or a warm curtain lining for boutique bedroom.
These sheets look equally well as a drape, a door curtain or window blind, due in part to their weight, thickness and stiffening.
